Canals of Las Vegas
One of the most popular attractions in Las Vegas (aside from the casinos and stage shows) is the city of Venice at the Venetian Hotel. Obviously, it is not possible to rebuild the entire city, but the spirit of Venice is here from St. Marks Square to the canals to the wandering street performers. The gondola ride is always in top demand. Same day reservations are expected, and you will need to make your reservations early in the day. The boats are modeled after authentic Venetian gondolas. The size of the canal requires them to be a bit smaller than the real ones, but at 26 feet, they are still impressive; as are the gondoliers. They are a wealth of information about Italy and are only too happy to sing for you along the half-mile ride. The gondola gives you an excellent opportunity to take careful note of the detailed decorations along the canals. The frescoes are worthy of Venice itself.
