Is "Sin City" the place to take the family? Answers are varied. This is still Las Vegas, complete with Showgirls, Casinos, hard liquor, and just a stone's throw from legalized prostitution. The city made its fame - and its fortune - by trading in vice, and you can still find every bit of it, should you so choose. However, the city has worked hard to make it easier on conventioneers to return with their wives and their little ones. Most of the newer resort casinos offer attractions ideally suited for children. Circus Circus has the Adventure Dome, MGM has lions and the Mirage has tigers. A short ride out of town will drop you at Hoover Dam and the magnificent Lake Mead recreation area. The Red Rock National Conservation Area is a fascinating and beautiful diversion from the pace of the Strip. Older children may be as fascinated as Dad at the Imperial Palace Auto Collection. And children of all ages like candy. At the Ethel M Chocolate Factory you can see how it is made and even sample a taste or two. Las Vegas may not yet rival Orlando for family entertainment, but there are enough offerings to at least consider it for your next family holiday.
