Las Vegas Shows
Everyone who comes to Las Vegas sees a show. In fact, a large percentage of visitors see a different show every night. The big hotels all have large theaters for headliners from nearby Hollywood, or New York or even international stars. Singers and comedians are frequent guests in Las Vegas. Some Las Vegas entertainers become stars in their own right. Wayne Newton has become a Las Vegas legend and a multimillionaire by simply "playing Vegas". Rarely seen outside of the city and never heard on the radio or television, his daily shows are always sold out. Singer-impressionist-comedian Danny Gans is doing the same thing in his own 1200-seat theater at the Mirage.
Of course, many of the shows in Las Vegas have a fair amount of spice. Some, like the "Folies Bergere" and "Jubilee" still retain a certain "innocence" of years gone by. "Midnight Fantasy" is more contemporary, but still remains more playful than naughty. Others, like "Crazy Girls" are more blatantly erotic. Of course there are shows for the ladies featuring the talents of the "Chippendale's" dancers and the "Thunder from Down Under". "Men...the Show" throws the No Touching rule out the door and encourages the ladies to fully enjoy themselves.
One of the more fascinating shows is the Blue Man Group. The best description may be "interactive performance art". This is a great show for the entire family and although portions of it may leave you scratching your head, you will be talking about it for months. Cirque du Soleil's imaginative show "Mystère" is a wonderful, colorful fusion of precision, athleticism and skill. You will not want to miss a single second of this show once it begins.
Of course there are traditional magic shows, musical reviews, tributes to America, music and great entertainers of the past (including hundreds of Elvis impersonators). It is easy to see why people who come to Las Vegas spend so much time in theaters.
