Las Vegas Volcano
Las Vegas is the land of make-believe, and over the top make-believe at that. Where else would someone spend $30 million creating a volcano that is clearly not real? And where else would people line up to watch it "erupt" on schedule? This is definitely one spot you will not want to miss. Get there early. There are crowds for every show. The Volcano is actually the centerpiece in a maze of waterfalls and lagoons which make up the entrance to the Mirage Hotel.
When the eruption begins, flames shoot from the top of the volcano, 100 feet into the air. The waters churn in response to the mountains seizure and soon lava spills down the slopes, setting the lagoons on fire. The fire is definitely not make-believe. Bystanders often back away in the face of the intense heat. A moment or two later, everything has returned to tranquil order until the next appointed show time. This is a nice diversion that you will want to witness at some point during your stay in Las Vegas.
