Liberace Museum Las Vegas
Only in Las Vegas would you find a museum like this. In a city of excesses, we have found the shrine of excess itself. Liberace, of course, was an entertainer who made his name by flaunting his excesses: lavish costumes, candelabra and chandeliers, gaudy jewelry and pianos to match. Liberace parlayed all of it into an incredible career, and incredible wealth. Here you will see a dizzying array of the props that he used to create his onstage persona: 18 of the 39 pianos which he owned - each more bejeweled than the next; dozens of costumes made from tons of lame and rhinestones, and a staggering collection of jewelry. Along the way you will see a number of the awards that Liberace won over the course of his life - some for serious piano skills, many for his talents as an entertainer. Yes, it is all tacky and should be taken with a serious grain of salt. The excesses of Liberace were all a part of his "shtick", and all of Las Vegas has followed his lead nicely.
